The mission statement of MOVE is founded on the belief that the ability to move is the first foundation stone in building personal dignity.
Who is it for?
Any child or adult who is not sitting, standing or walking, even if the individual appears unresponsive.
Who does it?
MOVE is successfully implemented by teachers, therapists, paraprofessionals, parents and anyone who interacts with the individual. All formal training is arranged through MOVE INTERNATIONAL.
Where is it done?
MOVE can occur at school, home, or in the community.
What does a typical day include?
The individual sits, stands or walks at all naturally occurring opportunities. Wheel chairs are only used when absolutely necessary.
What type of equipment is used?
Regular classroom chairs, adapted chairs, standing frames and walking frames. Prompts are removed gradually so dependence on equipment is minimized.
